What is Military?

The military, also known as lovastusa, is one of the most complex and challenging equestrian sports. In 1905, the first international multi-competition equestrian event was held in Belgium under the name „Military International” - and from there the name „military” was coined.

Modern military consists of three main parts: dressage, cross-country and show jumping. During the cross-country phase natural barriers - such as stumps, ditches, water obstacles - that present a real life challenge for the horse and rider.

Military obstacles features

The military barriers are basically are different the traditional show jumping hurdlesfrom. While in show jumping the obstacles can be knocked down, in the military course the obstacles are fixed, massive and natural-looking. They are designed to allow horse and rider to prove themselves in situations similar to real terrain.
